Project Architecture
The project was built as a fully custom web platform using Node.js and the Handlebars templating engine, combining both the public-facing website and the administration panel within a single application. Instead of relying on a third-party CMS, a custom content management system was developed from scratch, providing complete control over content structures, user management, and business-specific workflows through a comprehensive CRUD architecture.
The platform uses MongoDB as its primary database, allowing flexible document-based storage for pages, media assets, and dynamic content. The entire application is containerized with Docker Compose and designed to run on a serverless container architecture. In production, Caddy (or Nginx, depending on the deployment environment) operates as the reverse proxy, managing HTTPS, routing, compression, caching, and optimized request handling. This infrastructure makes the application portable, highly scalable, and easy to deploy across modern cloud environments.
Performance and search engine visibility were key priorities throughout development. The platform includes advanced SEO features such as customizable metadata, Open Graph tags, XML sitemap generation, robots.txt management, structured data support, and SEO-friendly URL routing. It also integrates several built-in optimization modules, including automatic image optimization, responsive image generation, asset compression, caching strategies, and lazy loading, resulting in faster page loads and improved Core Web Vitals performance.
The final solution is a lightweight, scalable, and maintainable custom CMS platform that delivers high performance while remaining flexible for future business requirements. Its container-based serverless deployment model enables reliable, efficient, and seamless deployment across modern cloud infrastructures.
